"This is the latest gem from my man Phil! - An energetic, virtuoso, tour de force, ablaze with great sounds and a wonderful selection of material. The alto saxophone was invented for this man, and he couldn't have picked better accompaniment." - Benny Carter

Hands down, this CD is the best Phil Woods quartet (or quintet) recording in many years. If there was ever a musician who did not need slick promotional soundbites and a lot of hype to sell his talent, it would have to be alto saxophonist Phil Woods.

The Encyclopedia Of Jazz describes his playing as, "burning with a passion that has always been a hallmark of his style". The man is one of the greatest living legends of jazz that there is. With the flawless support of the monstrously talented Bill Charlap on piano, and his trio, featuring bassist Peter Washington and drummer Willie Jones, plus a special guest appearance on two selections by award winning trumpeter Roy Hargrove, Woods is clearly inspired beyond the listener's wildest dreams.

The playing is exquisite throughout, and there are simply not enough superlatives in the world to adequately describe this remarkable live performance.
